Circuit breakers are used in homes, office buildings, and electric facilities. These instruments are prone to break down as they gather moisture, contaminants, and dirt while in use. If not maintained regularly, ciruit breakers insulation becomes weak as a result of the heat that is created due to arc interruption. Chemicals like hydrogen sulphide or chlorine can also be major factors in the damage and corrosion of insulation as well as metal components of circuit breakers.
It is important to test circuit breakers regularly to make sure they are operating properly. If a circuit breaker is faulty and does not trip on current overload, results can be catastrophic to an electrical system.
The Eaton Cutler Hammer 70C1056G52 Functional Test Kit includes a handheld battery powered tester capable for testing trip elements for Digitrip family of Magnum power circuit breaker trip units.
The Digitrip 520 family includes the 520, 520i, 520V, 520M, 520Mi, 520MC, and 520MCi. In addition, it can test the Digitrip 1150 family consisting of the Digitrip 1150, 1150i, the Digitrip 1500V and 1150Vi, the Digitrip 1150+ and 1150i+ by overlaying a nameplate on the tester.
An Auxiliary Power Module is included to provide trip unit power to illuminate the trip units having display LEDs.
The molded case Digitrip 310+ circuit breakers can also be tested with the Eaton Cutler Hammer 70C1056G52. The 70C1056G52 kit adds the Digitrip 310+ overlay and a different test cable assembly supplied in the kit.
The Eaton Cutler Hammer 70C1056G52 also tests the Digitrip 220+, Series G & FD, and NRX.
