Outside Sales Representative – Midwest Region

Protec Equipment Resources is a Dallas-based leader in rental of specialized test equipment for electrical power applications. We currently have a $15+ million rental fleet of equipment from OEMs including Doble, Omicron, Megger and Fluke. Our customers include NETA testing firms, electrical equipment OEMs, engineering and construction (EPC) firms and utilities. We serve customers from 6 nationwide branch locations in the Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, New York and Reno areas.


We are growing and looking for a motivated individual, to be based at our Schaumburg, IL location, who is willing to learn and grow with our team of professionals as the company expands. Travel is required for training that will take place at our corporate office in Grand Prairie, TX (Dallas) and then throughout the Midwest Region which includes MN, IA, MO, WI, IL, IN, MI, OH and KY.


The Outside Sales Representative’s position is to develop business opportunities by prospecting new customers and then responding efficiently to customer inquiries in partnership with our Dallas-based Inside Sales team. An effective sales representative will be able to align customers with the proper equipment and solutions for their electrical testing equipment needs. We provide on the job training; you provide the initiative and desire.


Duties and Responsibilities

- Targeted prospecting with existing and potential customers who are performing electrical testing services within the region

- Respond to customer inquiries via phone and email, assist existing and potential customers during their evaluation process, create quotes, enter new customer accounts, coordinate with Inside Sales and Operations teams and close sales

- Builds knowledge on relevant competitors and builds/executes strategies to win

- Keep management informed by maintaining accurate customer and pipeline records

- Represent Protec within regional industry organizations and at trade events


Skills and Specifications

- Passion for selling and assisting customers

- Enthusiastic and self-starting approach

- Knowledge/experience of electricity, electrical contracting, and electrical test equipment a plus

- Efficiently work under pressure and deadlines

- Strong interpersonal skills

- Should be outgoing and have outstanding communication skills, both oral and written


Education and Qualifications

- Minimum 2 years of experience in outside B2B sales, ideally in equipment rental or electrical components

- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience

- Ability to use Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Exchange

- Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools

- Must possess valid driver’s license and be insurable

- Ability to pass drug and background screening

- Must be willing to travel to develop the region

Outside Sales Representative – Northeast Region

This position will be an hourly position, requiring 40+ hours per week (including occasional evenings and weekends as needed).


Responsibilities of the position will include:

- Shipping, receiving, cleaning and testing of electrical test and measurement equipment.

- Courier of packages to and from customer locations or shipping terminals.

- Preparing and tracking internal and external work orders.

- Warehouse organization and maintenance.

This entry level role enables a candidate to learn our industry and develop sales skills, working from the Grand Prairie, TX (Dallas) corporate office. Advancement to Outside Sales and elsewhere in our growing organization is available to motivated and high performing individuals.
